CNN’s Costello Cuts off Trump Spox to Discuss ‘Republican Civil War’ Instead

‘Let’s stop right here; I want to talk about something else with Dana Bash’

COSTELLO: "Let me stop you right here. Stop, stop, stop, stop, stop. Because this is important because it is a larger issue and I do agree with you there, Katrina. We should talk about this. Because the way that sexual assault is portrayed in some Hollywood movies is wrong, and it is, and I agree with you there."
PIERSON: "It’s glamorized. "
COSTELLO: "But that doesn’t make what Mr. Trump said right. Right? So to me when you say these things —"
PIERSON: "No, you’re absolutely right."
COSTELLO: "I don’t know if you really mean them."
PIERSON: "That’s exactly why he apologized."
COSTELLO: "I don’t know if you really mean them or if you’re just deflecting to excuse Mr. Trump’s comments, and there’s a difference."
PIERSON: "No. You’re exactly right. That’s exactly why he apologized. He said he was embarrassed by those comments."
RYE: "What about his actions?"
PIERSON: "This really is a distraction from the larger issue. We’re talking about two people, who they are today, not who they are in the past. I know the left wants to go digging through the garbage to try to destroy someone's character."
RYE: "I’m sorry, that’s what you all are actually doing."
PIERSON: "What we should be talking about is Hillary Clinton because she wants to talk about the issues, Angela. Let’s talk about the red line in the sand. Aleppo is a humanitarian crisis."
COSTELLO: " I can’t, Katrina, because Donald Trump isn’t talking about that. He's talking about Bill Clinton's sexual past."
PIERSON: "Let’s talk about her using —"
COSTELLO: "Let’s stop right here. I want to talk about something else with Dana Bash."
RYE: "I can’t even hear you."
COSTELLO: "I want to talk to Dana Bash now. Dana, can you hear me?"
BASH: "I can hear you."
COSTELLO: "Okay. That conversation was going nowhere, so I’m going to talk to you about the Republican civil war because I do think that this is important. I mean, really, all of America should be concerned about what’s happening within the Republican Party right now because it’s important that we have two strong political parties in this country and, again, there’s this civil war going on, something that Donald Trump said he was going to fix, that he could unify his party, but it’s quite clear this morning that he can’t do that."
