If you read the New York Post, the election of Mayor de Blasio has meant a city torn asunder byviolence and mayhem and women who carry their belongings in more than one shopping cart. But this NYPD officer can apparently feel the mayor’s boot on his neck—he has no choice but to write summonses, this is De Blasio’s New York!

The officer, who appears to have just stopped a driver and written him a summons, explains how representative democracy and the 2013 election just ruined his day. (The video was made private after we shared it, but we've embedded a saved version below.)

“Mayor de Blasio wants us to give out summonses, OK? I don’t know if you voted for him or not, I don’t live in the city, I wouldn’t have voted for him because this is what he wants, he wants us to give out summonses.” (While the majority of NYPD officers live in the city limits, only 45% of white NYPD officers do, compared to 80% and 76% of black and Hispanic officers, respectively.)
