Sanders, Clinton Supporters Have Testy Exchange Over Fossil Fuel Donations: ‘Shame on You’ (The Washington Free Beacon)

Supporters of both Sen. Bernie Sanders (I., Vt.) and Hillary Clinton clashed Monday on CNN while discussing donations to Clinton’s campaign from the fossil fuel industry.

Former California Democratic Party chairman Bill Press and Neera Tanden, the president and CEO of the Center for American Progress who has also advised Clinton, clashed over how much money Clinton’s campaign has received from those in the fossil fuel industry, a long-time nemesis of the Democratic Party.

After Clinton was approached after a rally by a Greenpeace activist who confronted her over the donations, Clinton went on Meet the Press Sunday blaming Sanders and his young supporters for not having all the facts and saying that she felt sorry for them. This and the debate over how much Clinton has actually received became the first point of contention between the Press and Tanden.
