Chuck Todd: Donald Trump ‘Is a Bigger Version of Rick Scott’

‘It’s unreal’

RUSH TRANSCRIPT:

BRZEZINSKI: “But we asked you to wear the same shirt.”
SCARBOROUGH: “Yeah, I don’t get.”
LEIBOVICH: “It you want me to go change? I can come back.”
SCARBOROUGH: “We’ll go to Chuck Todd and come back to you. Chuck, so much to talk about. Really quickly, Ted Cruz underperformed last night. A bad night for him.”
TODD: “Very bad night. Whether he wants to blame John Kasich for splitting congressional districts in Illinois that handed things to trump but you look back, he was campaigning in Florida and Ohio should have been in Missouri and Illinois more. He should have gone for his states. Kasich campaigned in his state. He should have taken Missouri and North Carolina and spent everything trying to win those two states.”
SCARBOROUGH: “File this one under the ‘Nobody knows nothing’ category. Jeb Bush and Marco Rubio out of the race the night of the Florida primary. Nobody would have believed that a year ago.”
BRZEZINSKI: “Their home state.”
TODD: “The key is to be a part-time resident of Florida. Hey, snow birds love it.”
SCARBOROUGH: “How stunning is that? I mean looking back a year.”
TODD: “Can I tell you, the underappreciated aspect of what happened in Florida is Rick Scott conditioned that electorate to the outsider. Remember, the Republican establishment in 2010 all got behind — hey, be careful of Rick Scott. It will be a disaster. He’s a two-term governor, the state has not fallen into the ocean.
SCARBOROUGH: “And by the way, not only that. When he took over, what was unemployment? I mean, 10, 11 percent?”
TODD: “Well, that’s right, and, by the way, the unemployment rate is at 5 percent.”
SCARBOROUGH: “I remember being in Tallahasse and the unemployment 10, 11 percent when he was there.”
TODD: “So Florida Republicans were told for eight years that the establishment, oh, my god, be careful of this guy. So Trump is just a bigger version of Rick Scott.”
SCARBOROUGH: “So show this. Again, a massive state, Florida.”
TODD: “Do the county map. It’s unreal. The county map is the one that’s —
SCARBOROUGH: “If you have the county map as well instead of just a beautiful waving flag.”
TODD: “You know what it looks like, right? Have you seen it? Just the tip.”
SCARBOROUGH: “Yeah, a complete domination.” (Laughter) Just Miami-Dade.”
GEIST: “That was something.”
SCARBOROUGH: “That was something.”
TODD: “66 out of 67 counties.”
SCARBOROUGH: “How do you explain that?”
BRZEZINSKI: “I really have no explanation, actually.”
SCARBOROUGH: “But there’s a nice flag we just showed you.”
