Jeffrey Goldberg: In Obama’s Mind, ISIS Is Like the Joker

“He uses this analogy in meetings to describe his basic view of ISIS. The Joker and Batman basically. And he’s told this story a number of times. The gangsters of Gotham are all meeting around a table, and they’re terrible people, but they have Gotham divided up. In his [Obama’s] mind, I think these are Hezbollah, and the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps, Hamas and all these. And then all of the sudden, the Joker comes in and lights all of Gotham on fire. And in his mind, ISIS is the Joker.”
