Ed Rendell: ‘Bernie Is Naive’ About What’s Going on in the Republican Party

‘I don’t think President Obama did anything wrong in terms of not trying to exercise political leadership’

RUSH TRANSCRIPT:
MITCHELL: "Do you think President Obama should try to bail her out by putting his thumb on the scale by either endorsing or signaling his support for Hillary Clinton?"
RENDELL: " I don't think she needs that, but if wants to do it. Look, Bernie Sanders said, I was listening to something where Bernie Sanders said Bill Clinton failed leadership. You just had that."
MITCHELL: "That was an interview with Kasie Hunt."
RENDELL: "That Barack Obama didn't exercise right type of presidential leadership. I think President Obama tried to drum up public support and went to John Boehner and make a grand bargain and it didn't work. I don't think President Obama did anything wrong in terms of not trying to exercise political leadership. I think Bernie is naive about what's going on in the Republican party these days."
