Clinton Spox: ‘Criticism Just Doesn’t Ring True’ Clinton Isn’t Progressive Enough

‘Bernie Sanders shares many the same values as Secretary Clinton but does not have the same record of actually achieving results’

RUSH TRANSCRIPT:

JANSING: “If there are some questions that I think have came up recently and these are areas where I think the real knock on Hillary Clinton is she was late to the game — TPP, XL pipeline. Has she been hesitant to get on board with real progressive causes?”
FALLON: “Absolutely not. The criticism doesn’t ring true. If you look at her career, she has been fighting for working class Americans throughout. She has the most comprehensive proposals that show how she would win results on behalf of the Americans and what progressives are owed is not just what you believe in, but a plan for how you get it done. As we have seen, we will be facing interests and a republican party that is hell bent that is depriving us on the progress. Hillary Clinton persevered and gotten better when we had to contest the issues like health care. Not getting the universal health care proposal passed in 1993, she dusted herself and helped to get over the finish line the chip program that insured 8 million kids. Bernie Sanders shares many the same values as Secretary Clinton but does not have the same record of actually achieving results.”
JANSING: “What is she going to do here in the next five days? How much can she close the gap? Does she have a chance to win?”
FALLON: “It will be tough to win, but I think we can close the gap. You are seeing public polling that shows us trailing sanders by as many as 30 points. That speaks to the uphill climb, but there is a lot of affection for Hillary Clinton. Despite the fact that she is trailing and we have a chance to eat into the margin and that’s what we will do.”
