Trump: ‘I Was Semi-Satisfied’ with Second Place Finish in Iowa

‘I beat a lot of senators, a lot of governors, they do it professionally’

LAUER: “Yeah. And you do bristle at the fact that people are saying this was devastating for you and I would agree with that. I was reading a lot online yesterday, Mr. Trump, and the gist of it seemed to be, that now we’re going to find out what Donald Trump is made of. Does he have the gut? Does he have the heart to fight this long fight? How would you answer that question?”
TRUMP: “Well, I’ve been winning all my life, Matt, and that’s what I’ve done, and we’ll see what happens. I mean, I’m doing very well in New Hampshire. That was supposed to be my first stop, really. And I think I’m very happy, I did the whole thing in Iowa because I came in second. Look, I beat a lot of senators, a lot of governors — they do it professionally. I’ve never done this before. I’m not a professional politician. And I come in second and they don’t. And it was such a big story that I came in second — I don’t know why. But, I was actually semi-satisfied with it. Because — I guess one poll came out, or a poll came out saying I might win it by four or five points. And you know, that didn’t happen. I think caucuses are hard to poll, by the way.”
