Schiff: Special Counsel Hur’s Report Was ‘Political’ — He Is a ‘Hack’

‘What he did was deliberate’

EXCERPT:

SCHIFF: "[Merrick Garland] could’ve appointed someone else. He could’ve appointed a different special counsel appointed by a different — the president of a different party, but Merrick Garland has really bent over backwards to do the right thing, to withdraw the department from the terrible reputation it had under Trump of being politicized, and tragically, that requires you to anticipate a certain amount of professionalism and faith in the system and faith in the people who were appointed. And of course, that confidence, that expectation was completely betrayed here. Completely betrayed. And so, you know, in hindsight, it’s too easy to say he should’ve just appointed someone he knew would be more impartial, but ideally, you appoint a prosecutor that will improve public confidence in the report, you don’t expect them to be a hack. And in this case, he misjudged Mr. Hur."
