Rodman Teammate: We Should Have Done ‘Homework’ Before Our North Korea Trip

‘I guess we didn’t realize how much of an outcry we were going to get from home’

Rodman Teammate to Chris Cuomo: I ‘Could Have Done More Homework’ Before North Korea Trip (Mediaite)

Less than a week after his explosive interview with Dennis Rodman, CNN’s Chris Cuomo spoke to one of the men who looked so uncomfortable sitting behind the eccentric former NBA player in North Korea, Cliff Robinson. The former NBA all-star admitted to Cuomo that he “could have done a little bit more homework” before traveling with Rodman to Pyongyang to play basketball in honor of Kim Jong-un’s birthday.

Robinson said he was “unaware” of the North Korean leader’s birthday until he arrived in the country with Rodman and the other players and thought the goal of the trip was simply to “spread the love of basketball” to North Koreans. “I guess we didn’t realize how much of an outcry we were going to get from home,” he said.

Asking by Cuomo if he felt he was misled by Rodman about the true nature of trip, Robinson refused to throw his teammate “under the bus,” saying, “the trip happened quick, but we could have probably done a little bit more homework as to what was going on, or asked Dennis questions.”
