Chris Christie: ‘Our Real Adversary Was Watching from Chappaqua, N.Y.’

‘I think it was not in the interest of our party to get into these little dust ups and scraps’

KING: “Last night, governor, did you make a conscious decision not to engage with Donald Trump? There were a couple of dust-ups between Jeb Bush and Donald Trump — Marco Rubio and Ted Cruz. During that point did you say I’m just going to let this play out and stay above the fray? What was your thinking while this was going on?”

CHRISTIE: “Well, my thinking was — the most important thing is to remember that our adversary, our real adversary was watching last night from Chappaqua, New York. It’s Hillary Clinton. And it wasn’t — I think in the interest of our party or for our country to get in these little minor dust-ups and scraps that these guys get into. I’m talking about the petty little things that they discussing among each other. My — my idea is to keep the eye on the ball, make sure that we get the best person who can prosecute the case against Hillary Clinton in the fall, and I believe I’m that person.”
