Kasich on Trump: ‘We Need Somebody to Unite Us,’ Not to Divide Us

‘We need somebody to unite us’

HEMMER: “Let’s get back to politics, too. New poll out this morning. CNN has Donald Trump increasing his lead. He’s now at 36 percent. In that same poll, you’re — (Laughter) — right around 2 percent. We can laugh about it, but here are the numbers, governor. How great of a threat is Donald Trump as a potential nominee for the Republican Party?”
KASICH: “Well, my concern, Bill, has been, you know, the dividing aspect of this. You know, you — I don’t think you can have a candidate, conservative candidate who can win who attacks — we know he’s attacked women, he’s attacked Hispanics, attacked Muslims. I mean, this is not a way you can — you can win. And secondly, it’s not good for the country. We need somebody to unite us, not somebody to divide us. Now in regard to national polls, I never had national poll high numbers. Because people don’t know who I am, across the country. Because I was the governor of Ohio, and a pretty good governor. So, I didn’t disrupt, so you didn’t come out and cover me. But the game that is going to be finally played out right here, behind me is our bus, we are in New Hampshire, [crosstalk] where you do it right into the town hall where neighbors look at you.”
HEMMER: “And you’ve spent a lot of time in that state.”
KASICH: “Yes.”
HEMMER: “I know you have.”
