Brinkley: ‘I’m Nervous About Bomb Threats’ and Trump Throwing America Off the Real Issues as Climate Change

‘We have a big problem in our country’

EXCERPT:

BRINKLEY: "Well, first off, I'm -- I'm nervous about, you know, bomb threats and the fact that there might be violence. You know, with January 6, still fresh in our minds, and as historian, on February 15th, 1933, FDR was -- gave a speech in Miami, and there ended up being a nut there who not only shot at Roosevelt, but wounded five people, including killing a mayor of Chicago. And so you know, violence can be in the air. And so the security right now is the single most important thing. And then my other main thought, as you know, John Adams said, no democracy has ever lived. They all commit suicide. Well, our democracy has lived, and -- but we will commit suicide if we did not prosecute Donald Trump, because he has fought to the law, he had many chances to give back these classified documents, he's jerking the American public around and he -- he really truly is a ex president that still thinks he's president. And so we have a big problem in our country. And today's just another moment of Trump throwing America off the real issues at hand, whether it's homelessness, climate change, or -- or economy."
