Texas Mayor Proclaims 2014 Is ‘The Year of The Bible’

‘The morality that helped build our country is based on the values that are found in The Bible’

Texan Mayor Officially Declares 2014 ‘The Year of the Bible’ (Mediaite)

A North Texan mayor has caused a stir by formally declaring 2014 the “Year of the Bible,” and he hopes to do the same for 2015.

Flower Mound’s Mayor Tom Hayden made the official proclamation at a city council meeting in December. “I was nervous about doing this,” he said. “And I’ve been thinking about it for two years and procrastinated about if for as long as I possibly could.”

The mayor made his declaration in an attempt to get the Dallas-Fort Worth suburb to “connect” through the Bible. In addition, a website called thebible2014.com was created by the Calvary Chapel of Flower Mound as a “connecting point to fulfill the Mayor’s vision,” offering residents a new piece of scripture daily so that “at the end of the year, they’d have gone through the whole Bible in a year.”
