Kerry Talks About Hip Hop, Fist Bumps with Snoop Dogg

Snoop Doog (AKA Snoop Lion) recently visited the White House to perform at the 36th annual Kennedy Center Honors celebration, and while he was there he shared a few words with Secretary of State John Kerry.

In a short video posted on Instagram, the two men appear to be discussing the work of jazz musician Herbie Hancock, who was being honored that night. As part of the concert portion of the evening, Snoop Dogg performed a new rap verse for “Cantaloop (Flip Fantasia),” which samples Hancock’s “Cantaloupe Island.”

“He invented your whole thing,” Kerry told Snoop, who agreed, saying, “He invented hip hop.” The two men then traded fist bumps before Kerry moved on, saying what appears to be “Ooh, he gave me the pound.”
