General Jack Keane on Putin’s Nuclear Threats: We Have To Be Steady in Dealing with This

‘I still believe the probability is low based on what the circumstances are’

RUSH EXCERPT:

KEANE: “Well, certainly they are threatening the use of nuclear weapons. I still believe the probability is low based on what the circumstances are and what Putin is facing if he ever used a nuclear weapon, he’s facing destruction of his mill he tri inside – military inside of Ukraine. It would guarantee a response from the United States and NATO. We’re not going to stand for a nuclear weapon going off in Ukraine, in Europe, and stand idly by and sit on our hands and let Putin take advantage of the rest of Europe in terms of nuclear blackmail. But in the sail respect – same respect, you’ve got to take it seriously. I’ll take the administration at face value. They said that they have talked to the leadership in Russia. They have laid out what the catastrophic consequences are if Putin used a weapon. I’ve always had some concerns about the spine of this administration and their ability to confront adversaries in a responsible, yet determined way and I want to believe that they have said exactly that with the degree of he specificity to the Russians so the Russians know full well what is the possible gain they could get from using you few clear weapon. They won’t – nuclear weapon. They won’t end the war with it. The Ukrainian people aren’t going to give up. We know that. To bring the United States and NATO into the war certainty guarantees that Putin loses every. So yes, I think there’s fear mongering going on many. I think we have to be steady here if in dealing with this and also do what the administration is doing and the Congress should be reinforcing it, that you’re going to pay an external price that you can’t afford to pay if you use a nuclear weapon in Ukraine and likely would bring down your very regime itself as a result of it.”
