Todd Stunned at How Bad Clinton’s Poll Numbers Are: ‘I Thought I Was Misreading It’

GEIST: “Let's turn to some politics. The latest [poll] from WMUR /CNN poll shows Bernie Sanders leading by 16 points over Hillary Clinton inside the state of New Hampshire. Since July, Senator Sanders up 10 points, Hillary Clinton down 12 points. And look at the transformation in opinion on who most likely will win the state, that’s even now. Secretary Clinton has fallen 26 percent. And while voters overwhelmingly still believe Hillary has the best shot at winning the general election that's by more than 30 points -- her net favorability, in third place in this poll, far behind both Bernie Sanders and Vice President Joe Biden. Joe?
SCARBOROUGH: “Chuck Todd, Hillary Clinton down 26 points over the past few months in New Hampshire. Her favorability is -20 compared to Bernie Sanders. What’s a feeling inside a Clinton camp? How low can this go? And what’s the plan to stem the bleeding?
TODD: “I don’t know they have a plan to stem the bleeding right now. I think part of it to — put her out there more. You know, she —; I’ve got her on the show this Sunday. I think she’s doing a town hall with Today Show a week later. I mean — I think that seems to be part of their plan, it’s like OK --” [crosstalk]
SCARBOROUGH: “How bad — how bad do those numbers look to you, Chuck?”[crosstalk]
TODD: “Joe, I saw them yesterday and I said double digits? She’s down double digits in New Hampshire? Can we take a minute here, and realize Hilary Clinton is down double digits to Bernie Sanders? I — I just — I remember when I first saw — I sat there and  — I — I thought I was misreading it. I know that he's doing well in New Hampshire ” -- [crosstalk]
SCARBOROUGH: “16 points!"
TODD: “That is an astounding number. If you take Biden out, he is still ahead."
