Whoopi Goldberg to Carson: People Used To Say the Same ‘About Black Candidates’

‘That’s like saying no Jewish person could be president’

Whoopi Goldberg to Carson: People Used to Say the Same About Black Candidates (Mediaite)

The View moderator read from the U.S. Constitution Monday morning in an effort to refute Carson's stance against a Muslim president. “Keep in mind, Ben Carson, that’s what they used to say about black candidates,” Goldberg said. “That’s what they said about Shirley Chisholm. She was a woman and she was black, so you know they went to town on her.”

Goldberg urged Carson to look at the person and not their religion. “That’s like saying no Jewish person could run, I mean, why would you do that?” she asked.

Co-host Raven-Symoné one-upped Goldberg, calling Carson’s comments “blatant racism.”
