Chaffetz: GOP Has Done a Good Job in Pointing out that Russia Sanctions Aren’t Tough Enough

‘I think there are a lot of people that are afraid of getting American troops on the ground engaged in this fight’

EXCERPT:

CHAFFETZ: "I think clarity wins the day. Vladimir Putin is a tyrant, he’s a thug, he is killing people. The strongest words should come out of every Republican’s mouth saying how totally unacceptable that that is. But I also need to say that, you know, I think there are a lot of people that are afraid of getting American troops on the ground, engaged in this fight. And I think that’s a worthy discussion. I also think that Republicans have done a good job of pointing out that the sanctions were really not the toughest thing ever. And I thought one of the biggest debacles of this, Howie, was when the Vice President Harris was in Germany saying, 'Oh, my goodness, you know, these sanctions are — they’re meant as a deterrent,' only to have the President of the United States say, 'Well, nobody thought that sanctions were actually a deterrent.' That should have gotten, I think, even more media attention."
