Deutsch on Texas Pro-Life Law: Republicans ‘Are the Party of Lunacy’

DEUTSCH: “The Republicans are — I’m going to put three issues on the table with the one you’re starting with. It's the party of lunacy. In the last few weeks, here are the three flags the Republicans have risen. One, we don’t want to look into an insurrection against the U.S. Government, we don’t want to do any investigating as to what happened with one of the saddest and most frightening days to our democracy in our American history, number one. Number two, we don’t want to have to make children wear masks in schools to keep them safe, we’re against that. We don’t want children to be as safe as we can, that’s an impingement on our freedom. Yet at the same time we don’t want to give women the freedom, six weeks after they get raped by their uncle, to get an abortion. This is the party of lunacy. And from a pure political point of view, as I said earlier, they’re just setting themselves up to go against history, which would allow the opposition party to win in the midterms and allow the Democrats to keep control. So from both a human point of view and a political point of view, it’s the party of lunacy at this point.”
