Abby Huntsman to Jon Huntsman: ‘Dad ... Have You Ever Seen It This Divided?’

‘I came to see whether she’s been naughty or nice’

ABBY HUNTSMAN: “Dad, it's so fun having you. You’ve been in politics a very long time, since before I was born. Your first job was advance man for Reagan. Have you ever seen it this divided?”
JON HUNTSMAN: “No. In fact, I think historically you have to go back to the 1890’s to see a time when we've actually been this divided. It is a reality. People feel the divided system. They sense it in all of the discussions that take place on Capitol Hill. And the fact of the matter is, we are divided. And something needs to be done. We have to move toward problem solving, and solutions, and crossing the impenetrable divide. We have no other place to go. People say, well why are you hopeful about things? And I’m hopeful because there's this generation called the millennials coming up. They see the world differently. They are problem solvers, they're pragmatic, and have seen the mistakes of my generation. And I think they're ready to roll up their sleeves and go about fixing some of them."
