Rep. Van Hollen: Rand Paul's Unemployment Remarks Were 'Absurd,' 'Demeaning'

'With all due respect to Senator Rand Paul, this is a ridiculous argument'

JANSING: “Two arguments that we've really heard from Republicans, perpetual unemployment and we can't afford it. What do you say?”
VAN HOLLEN: “With all due respect to Senator Rand Paul, that is a ridiculous argument. Here he is blaming people who are out of work through no fault of their own, who are still looking for work, and that's a condition of continuing to receive unemployment compensation. And we still have very high unemployment rates in the country, historically speaking.”
