Boehner in July Dismisses Efforts to Oust Him as Speaker: ‘No Big Deal’

‘You’ve got a member here and a member there who are off the reservation — no big deal’

Just two months ago, Speaker John Boehner dismissed efforts to oust him as speaker as "no big deal:

“Listen, because America has essentially a two party system, each of the parties represents pretty wide divergent set of views," Boehner said. "And as a result, it requires a lot more effort on the part of the leaders to try to work in a unified fashion. We just continue to work out every day ... You’ve got a member here and a member there who are off the reservation — no big deal.”

In response to a follow up question on Rep. Mark Meadows (R-N.C.)'s attempts to dethrone Boehner, the speaker insisted, "I have broad support."
