Without Citing Data, Dr. Thomas Frieden Claims: ‘Mask Mandates Work’

‘Each community should have an open process for deciding what they are going to do’

EXCERPT:

FRIEDEN: "There's a lot there to think about. I think the first thing is, there's an old saying that your right to swing your fist ends at my nose. And I think we have to think about that when we think about what is appropriate for government action. If you’re working in a grocery store and there’s no mask mandate in your town, and somebody comes in without a mask and you're vulnerable and you haven’t been vaccinated yet, that's really not fair. There’s no reason that person should put your health at risk, and that's your job, you have to go there in order to be able to make money to put food on the table for your family. So mask mandates work. They increase mask use. Now, on the issue of closures, it's much more complicated. And here I think each community should have an open process for deciding what they're going to do.”
