Howard Kurtz: In Post-Trump Media Fallout, Real Test Will Come When Biden Hits Rough Patch

‘Their ratings soared as they attracted largely anti-Trump audience’

EXCERPT:

KURTZ: "Now here's a factor I didn't mention. As the major networks and newspapers fought an intensely personal battle with Donald Trump for years, their ratings and their subscriptions soared as they attracted a largely anti-Trump audience. So now they have a financial incentive not to be too rough on a Democratic White House or Democratic governors or risk alienating their audience. Now, of course, the media shouldn't be acting like the opposition party, as it increasingly happened toward the end of Donald Trump's tenure. The real test for the coverage will come when Joe Biden, like every president before him, hits a rough patch."
