Rep. Jackson Lee: Dems Criticizing Biden Over the Border Crisis Don’t Have the Point or the Facts on Their Side

‘When you don’t have the facts on your side when you demagogue the person you believe is your opponent’

EXCERPT:

CAPEHART: “So congresswoman, some of your -- your fellow Democratic, fellow Texans in Congress have been criticizing President Biden and the administration over its response to what’s happening on the southern border. Do they have a point? Is the president doing enough?”
JACKSON LEE: “No, I think they don't. When you don’t have the facts on your side then you demagogue the person you believe is your opponent. The Republicans here are doing nothing but creating an election issue for 2022. Yes, we have an issue or issues at the southern border. We have unaccompanied children coming. Having served in the United States Congress and been on Homeland Security Committee for a number of years, the Subcommittee on Immigration and Judiciary, I have been through this before, particularly under the Republican administration, Trump’s presidency. It was a cruel and inhumane approach they used. I went to Mexico. I saw the squalor these families were living in as they waited on the other side of the border, and, yes, I went to border stations, but I also went to places where children were in cages. I looked at children and interacted with children who have never — and have never yet been returned to their families. Continuously separated from those families, and only the Biden administration has tried to reunite them.”
