Farmer: ‘I Don’t Think It’s Right’ That COVID Relief Bill Only Helps Minority Farmers

‘I worked all my life and worked very hard to get where I’m at, and I didn’t get no breaks like that’

EXCERPT:

KAY: "Well, I’m not a racist person, to start off with, but I don’t think it’s — I worked all my life and worked very hard to get where I’m at, and I didn’t get no breaks like that. I don’t think that they should get breaks like that. Not saying they don’t deserve it, no to — just to wipe out their debt, you're debt-free, that’s not right."

KILMEADE: "You have debt?"

KAY: "Do what?"

KILMEADE: "Do you have debt to run your farm? Do you have to work your business in debt?"

KAY: "No, no, I’m not in debt. So, thank goodness, I worked myself out of debt. So, I think everybody should work themselves out of debt. They make people appreciate what they’re doing better. And they don’t need to just do — you know, they targeted just the blacks and I don’t think it’s right. I don’t think they should do away with their debts. I mean, I’m not saying they need to take the farms away from them, by no means, but just don’t do away with their debt."
