Lawrence Jones: Pelosi Didn’t Want the COVID Relief Bill to Take Place Before the Election

‘This is just Washington as usual’

EXCERPT:

JONES: "Yeah, well, I don’t think it’s just the Republicans. I think this is just Washington as usual. These backdoor deals, this is what it's all about in Washington. This is a bill that they weren’t able to read that leadership brought to the floor. And what you are seeing is that after months and months and telling the American people they didn’t have to work, that Washington was going to go and save them, they did absolutely nothing. And I think the President made the argument that more Americans need more money, and that it was a joke to suggest that $600 was going to be enough. Sure enough, $2,000 is not enough, but it is a starting point, and I think that is something that both parties are responsible for. But to many people, Republicans specifically, say this is Nancy Pelosi’s fault, she did not want a bill to take place before the election, and now more Americans are suffering."
