Author Unveils Campaign to Encourage Americans to Thank Vets on 4th of July

‘It’s hard to think of a better or purer mission’

CARLSON: "Joining me now is the co-founder of Unite the USA, co-author of the Unite the USA, Discover the ABCs of Patriotism and recording artist Carrie Stoelting. Carrie, it's great to see you this morning."

STOELTING: "It's great to see you too. Thank you for having me on."

CARLSON: "Oh, we're -- it's our pleasure. So tell us what Unite the USA does."

STOELTING: "Well, thank you for asking. Unite the USA is an outreach founded by my sister Stacy and I. It's an outreach that encourages positive patriotism and veteran appreciation. And this Independence Day we are urging Americans to reach out and thank our heroes for keeping our country free and protecting freedom. And so if you go to unitetheusa.org you can find all kinds of ways, all kinds of ideas to reach out to our service men and women and our veterans."

CARLSON: "Well, it's hard to think of a better or purer mission. So if viewers at home are thinking, 'Boy, I would really like to personally thank members of the military for defending the country,' and they go to your website, what ways will they find to reach out and do that?"

STOELTING: "Well, for the Fourth of July we have some special ideas. For instance, the Independence Day -- we're celebrating the founding of our country and our freedom; lots of local events to celebrate the Fourth of July throughout the country and that's a fantastic way to connect with our veterans. For example, so many march in local parades. I'm based in Iowa and I can tell you, local parades always have veterans marching. It's a beautiful sight. So what I like to do, what my sister and I like to do, is go out and reach out and say thank you for serving. Thank you so much. For instance, I urge Americans who are watching today, go out to these Fourth of July events and you are going to see veterans. Go up there and say, 'Thank you. Thank you for your service. We appreciate you. We thank you for your sacrifice.'"

CARLSON: "There's something really, really moving about that -- those parades, Amen. And I hope our viewers will go. I imagine they are planning it."

STOELTING: "Yes."

CARLSON: "But they can go to unitetheusa.org for details. Carrie Stoelting, joining us live this morning. Great to see you. Thanks."

STOELTING: "Thank you."
