Rep. Max Rose on Stalled COVID Stimulus Relief: There Is a Deal To Be Made

‘It is critical that we dedicate all of the resources necessary to beat this unprecedented pandemic’

EXCERPT:

ROSE: "There is a deal to be had. But in order for that to occur, two things need to happen. First off, the Democratic Party has to stop thinking about the next election. Democratic Party can’t say oh look, it’s better if we don’t get a deal because then the President looks worse off. I think that is fundamentally wrong and un-American. But secondly, the Republican Party, particularly my colleagues in the Senate, can no longer put their head in the sand and think that a skinny bill is okay. It’s a good thing that we didn’t have a skinny plan for the Apollo project or a skinny plan to beat the Nazis. Rather, I have confidence that there are members in Congress on both sides of the aisle that are putting the country first, that will come to the table with a robust, bold and nonetheless sensible plan to beat COVID, emerge out of this economic crisis, as well as this public health crisis."
