CNN Panelist Tara Dowdell: Fear and Anger Drives the Trump Base

STELTER: "I was trying to make clear, the idea behind liberal news shows. Tara, what did you major of the treatment from the media?"
DOWDELL: "It’s exactly what I expected. Part of it is in fact strategy, fear and anger drives the base, that drives the operation to get out the votes on behalf of the Republican parties, but let’s be clear. Trump is legitimately angry. His whole campaign, his whole presidency has been about his anger and his going after people to — as a manifestation of that anger. So I think it’s a two-part equation here. For the media, though, I think it’s 100% about driving this narrative that the Republican Party, Republican voters are victims and Trump is the hero fighting back on their behalf. That’s what drives ratings for them. Also again this interplay with ratings and get out the vote. That’s what we’re seeing. It’s really troubling."
