Klobuchar Argues Bush Should Have Used 9/11 to Pass a Carbon Tax: ‘It Would Have [Been] Seen as Patriotism’

‘I swear to God, 80% of the country at that moment would have said yes’

EXCERPT:

KLOBUCHAR: “After that, the world was united, the country was united, and I remember President Bush looked at everyone, I think he could have asked them to do anything and they would have done it. And one of the things we could have done then was say, ‘Okay, this terrorism came from countries that we don’t want to be dependent on their foreign oil, so why don’t we do akin to a carbon tax, put that money into developing our own renewable energy?’ I swear to God, 80% of the country in that moment would have said yes, they would have seen it is patriotism. But instead, at that moment he asked people to go shopping.”
