BUTTIGIEG: "No, what I'm talking about is the love of country that begins with the understanding that our country is made of people. You can't love a country if you hate half of the people in it. Let's do better with love of country. Let's use it to motivate us to protect one another. That is what motivated the people that I served with overseas, the desire to protect those they love and this country that we love. But if we want to protect our country, that means we have to protect our country's honor, protect our country's word overseas, so that no ally would ever question whether it's a good bet to bet your life on the credibility of the United States of America. That's where patriotism leads me."
