W.H.: Libya Undergoing ‘Remarkable Turmoil,’ Crisis ‘Not Sustainable’

EARNEST: "It's clear that we've seen remarkable turmoil inside of Libya and that's led to some pretty terrible incidents of violence there. The UN and other international organizations are engaged and trying to reach a diplomatic solution to the turmoil in Libya. The United States is strongly supportive of trying to find a diplomatic resolution to that crisis. But it is clear that a situation there is one that's not sustainable and there are concerns about that kind of instability spreading throughout North Africa ...

We, at the United States are concerned about security situation there as well. However, we are mindful of the fact that a diplomatic resolution is one that's required and there are obviously a lot of parties to that particular dispute and United Nations and other international institutions are working diligently to try to bring an end to the violence or at least reduce the violence such that parties can come together on negotiating table and try to work out their differences in the political process."
