High Profile Democrats Skipping Obama Visit to Kentucky

The Democrat candidate for governor, Jack Conway, is among the Democrats skipping today’s speech

NN HOST: “The Derby City is rolling out the red carpet for the president of the United States, but some high- profile Kentucky Democrats are not. President Barack Obama is visiting a Louisville tech company today. Some top Democrats in the state won't be there. WKYT's Hillary Thornton is at our live desk to explain why.”
THORNTON: “Good morning. President Obama’s stop at the tech company will mark his first visit to the bluegrass state since 2011. The White House announced discussions at the stop will include President Obama’s concerns over Republicans plans to repeal the estate tax. The White House says eliminating the tax will cost 300 billion dollar and its repeal would affect few people. Meanwhile, Republicans say doing away with the tax would help farmers and small business owners keep their businesses in the family. We have learned former lieutenant governor and Louisville mayor, Jerry Abramson, who now works at the White House will accompany the president on his trip to the Derby City. However many other prominent Kentucky Democrats are skipping the visit, including the parties likely nominee for governor, Jack Conway, who says he plans to be in eastern Kentucky today. Also on the list of those who will not be in Louisville for the president’s visit state auditor Adam Edelen and attorney general candidate Andy Beshear.”
