Rep. Michael Waltz: I Have Never Seen a Storm Like This, I Have Never Seen One Moving So Slow

‘That is what makes it dangerous’

EXCERPT:

HEMMER: "We have seen some of the pictures from the Bahamas. I mean, really, your thoughts go out to those people trying to get through and ultimately recovery. How about the mind game that Dorian has been so far? When you have a category 4, category 5 storm that moves to stationary for 18 hours, it is almost unheard of."
WALTZ: "No, I have never seen a storm like this. I have never seen one moving so slow. That is what makes it dangerous. If it's moving slowly up this coastline, it is going to push monumental amounts of water up into the rivers, up into the inner coastal. That causes — Matthew did the same thing up here. It causes areas to flood that you wouldn't expect, where people think they are safe. So even if we may be a little bit safer from the wind damage, we are not from the flood damage. And the water around here is already at record levels, from record amounts of rainfall. So everybody needs to keep their guard at."
