MSNBC’s Jansing to Gov. Bullock: Can You Compete Against Trump if You Take Dark Money out of Politics?

‘I absolutely think there is a chance to get dark money out of the elections’

EXCERPT:

JANSING: "You mentioned a number of things that you think are problematic in the way we're looking at the race. Before you go, because you've centered a lot of your campaign, you've talked a lot about dark money and its influence on politics. As you know, David Koch passed away this morning, and his influence obviously loomed large. Do you think that there is a chance to get dark money out of our elections?"

BULLOCK: "Oh, I absolutely think there's a chance to get dark money out of our elections."

JANSING: "Can somebody compete against Donald Trump if they do that?"

BULLOCK: "Oh, sure. Absolutely. Anytime that we can actually make the issue about giving people a voice and not this dark money, this post-Citizens United world. So many of the things we talk about from climate change to gun safety, the income inequality. We got to recognize that the core of that really is the outside spending in our elections that's keeping Washington, D.C. from doing anything. It's been the fight of my career since Citizens United and I think that's a challenge of our time."
