Axelrod: Schock ‘Lost a Grip on Reality,’ Tried Living Glam Lifestyle on Taxpayer’s Expense

‘Perhaps he should have run [for governor] because he would have gotten a mansion’

ROBERTS: "What do you think was the linchpin about his resignation?"
AXELROD: "This was like an onion being peeled. There was layers and layers of abuse that became more obvious and now his problems are more legal than political. He just went way over the line. And just a few years ago -- two years ago, Thomas, in Illinois, he was being talked about as a potential candidate for governor. But perhaps he should have run because he would have gotten a mansion and maybe that would have satisfied some of his needs. But he obviously lost a grip on reality and tried to live lifestyles of the rich and famous at the expense of his contributors an taxpayers."
