Gen. McCaffrey: We Don’t Want Trump To Use Our Military as Props

McCAFFREY: “Well, you know, we’ve never seen anything like this. Essentially, the commander in chief, and hisown only role as commander in chief is over the 2.1 million men and women of the armed forces. There’s a series of laws that govern the behavior. If he and the Secretary of Defense, the only two civilians who command the armed forces. The jcs don’t. He’s broken all the guidelines, all the constraints. He’s used them in a political manner. And by the way, you’re never going o’find somebody that loves m-1 tanks more than me. I mean, they are just an incredible fighting machine. But we don’t want this, our armed forces, to become a prop in what tomorrow will undoubtedly be another politically divisive day.”
