Chris Matthews: ‘It’s Not that Hard’ To Beat Trump; I Think Biden Can Do It

‘Warren’s always been a question mark for me’

EXCERPT:

MATTHEWS: "You know, Mika, you and I watch these polls that show 89 percent of Republicans backing Trump, well, if it's only 80 percent he loses. You don’t got to take the Trump vote back, you just got to take back maybe 20 points. It's not that hard. And I think it's OK, like Biden can do it. I don't think Sanders could do it, necessarily, or Warren, maybe. Warren’s always been a question mark for me -- I don't know. Or Kamala, I just don't know. Or Buttigieg, I don't know. But I think Biden is the one who's the most likely to take those votes, especially because of background. People vote for somebody like themselves. He's sort of like me. He’s catholic, he’s middle class, he seems moderate, he's patriotic, I liked him with Obama. I can see with the things up front, the profile looks good. That’s Biden’s challenge. Can you be the guy you look like from now until next November, next November. That’s a long road for him but I think the votes are there to get. We'll see tonight. I mean these voters are going to tell us tonight. I'm going to ask the questions like — well, you would ask the same questions. What would it take for you to vote for a Democrat, next time? You voted for Obama last time, you voted for Trump in the most recent election. So, you’re back and forth. What would take you back again? I think that’s the question."
