Murphy: SCOTUS Ruling Against Subsidies Would Be Calling Lawmakers ‘Liars’

‘It would be the most stunning act of judicial overreach in the modern history of this court’

“The text of the law is clear. The intent is clear and we are confident that the Supreme Court is going to rule in favor of the government, in favor of the Affordable Care Act.

Because if they were to rule the other way, they would effectively be calling dozens of senators and representatives liars, would be telling members of Congress that what they state was their intent is not true.

And to me, it would be the most stunning act of judicial overreach in the modern history of the court, essentially making this court a secondary legislative body whereby they can substitute their political judgment for the political judgment of those who were elected to serve the American people."
