CHRISTIE: “And all of sudden, we saw, like, Kellyanne Conway get up and leave the room, and then Hope Hicks get up and leave the room without saying anything. Then Bannon got up and left the room, then Jared got up and left the room. And ultimately, it was just me, Priebus and the candidate sitting in this conference room. And finally, Donald looked at me and said 'what the hell is going on?' And I said, listen, I have no idea but I can tell you this. In my experience, when your staff gets up and leaves the room and doesn't come back without explanation, it's never good news. And so, he called them back in and at that point Hope Hicks had a transcript of the tape which she handed to the candidate and to me and Reince. And we all sat across from each other and read it together. I will tell you, it was one of the few times in the 17 years I've known him that I actually saw the President genuinely embarrassed. He looked embarrassed, he acted embarrassed, and to the point where he started to say 'I can't believe I said any of this. I can't believe it's me, I don't use those words.' "
