Jill Wine-Banks: ‘Rat Is a Term That’s Often Applied in Mafia Cases’

‘Donald Trump should be applauding anyone who cooperates in the investigation, because he’s actually innocent and that would show it if he allowed the investigation to go’

EXCERPT:

WINE-BANKS: "Oh, I’m sorry, I thought you were going to show the tweet again. Yes, who would have thought that my organized crime prosecution background would be as relevant as my Watergate background to commenting on the actions of the President of the United States. But it’s true, 'rat' is a term that's often applied in mafia cases. And in the democracy that we live in, Donald Trump should be applauding anyone who cooperates in the investigation, either because he’s actually innocent and that would show it if he allowed the investigation to go. Or just because it’s his Department of Justice, and he should be applauding anyone who cooperates with it, instead of his trying to stop people and to undermine the Department of Justice, the Mueller team, the FBI, everything that has to do with looking at him. I’m sure he’ll be attacking the Attorney General of New York who’s looking at his fraudulent activities in his foundation. And this is — it’s just wrong, we can’t allow this to happen. So you’re absolutely right. This is all bad stuff for democracy and the rule of law. And Liz is completely correct on what she said about impeachment and about indictment of the President, and has written a wonderful book that everyone should read about the case for impeachment."
