In this preview clip from tonight’s Late Show, host David Letterman and his guest Anderson Cooper were discussing this past weekend’s inspiring march in Paris when the CNN anchor joked, “And to see President Obama there was just extraordinary.”

When Letterman asked why President Barack Obama did not attend the rally along with dozens of other world leaders, Cooper said, “Or the vice president! I mean he spends weekends watching, like Gilmore Girls,” before adding, “No disrespect.”

On Monday, White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest admitted that the U.S. should have sent someone with a “higher profile” to the march, leading Cooper to say, “That’s basically what vice presidents exist for!”
