Michael O’Hanlon on U.S.-Saudi Relationship: ‘Business as Usual Has to End for a While, Right About Now’

‘I’m not suggesting that this murder, however horrible, as such that we should no longer defend them or no longer buy their oil or have the world buy their oil’

EXCERPT:

O’HANLON: “Great point. I’m generally supportive of, or least I'm understanding of why President Trump is not trying to commit to too big of a punishment too fast. I don’t think that Secretary Pompeo should have been seen in quite the same way that he was seen in recent days on his trip to Saudi Arabia. And I think we're just going to have to start right away ratcheting down the visibility and the warmth of this relationship. We can’t break it off. I’m not suggesting that this murder, however horrible, is such that we should no longer defend them or no longer buy their oil or have the world buy their oil. But business as usual has to end for a while, right about now.”
