MSNBC Explains Trump Camp’s Backchannel Comms with Russian Bank: ‘What More Evidence Do You Need?’

‘We decided this was a covert communication channel’

EXCERPT:

BERTRAND: "I mean, what more evidence do you need? It’s very, very obvious. And it’s really Occam's razor here, the fact that we’ve still not been able to rule out the idea that this was a covert communication channel two years after the fact— the fact that no one has come forth with a plausible explanation for why this was happening, for why Alfa Bank was one of three organizations communicating with the Trump server in those months leading up to the election is just completely remarkable. I think the fact that Frank’s story got overlooked or criticized as much as it did and the fact that now it’s being revisited and you have the editor of the “New York Times” saying that there, you know, was a story there just shows the lack of imagination, really, that we were operating with, in the months leading up to the 2016 election. I mean, at that point, to see Frank’s story come out on October 31st, to see the story about the Steele dossier, which was also published on October 31st, which no one paid attention to because they just could not believe that this actually had any merit, I think, is, you know, and the fact that we now are still revisiting those two things, the Steele dossier constantly over and over again and these questions about the Alfa Bank-Trump Organization communication, it just shows how far we’ve come and how far our — or how much our imaginations have grown with regards to what the Trump campaign and Russia both were capable of in the election."
