Keane: Airstrikes Against ISIS in Iraq Have Been Successful; Syria Is Another Story

‘It’s going to take a considerable effort’

“The fact is the airstrikes have had some significant impact on ISIS. They haven't taken any new territory in months. So, the airstrikes inside of Iraq have truly been successful in stopping their offensive capability. They are still conducting offensive operations but no new territory and that's the good news. In Syria, they are attacking offensively across a very large swath of territories, as far east as Damascus, obviously still in Kobani where we have a stalemate, and all the way to the Iraqi border in eastern Syria. So that’s a different situation. But the airstrikes have had some positive impact there as well.”
