CNN’s Bash Elicits Praise from Lindsey Graham on Obama’s Response to North Korea

‘So far so good Mr. President’

Lindsey Graham: China Was Involved in Sony Hack (Mediaite)

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) said on Sunday morning he “can’t imagine” that China was not involved in the Sony Pictures hack that U.S. officials blamed solely on North Korea, even though the U.S. reportedly sought China’s help in the aftermath of the cyberattacks.

“You can’t talk about North Korea without talking about China,” Graham told CNN’s State of the Union. ”I can’t imagine anything this massive happening in North Korea without China being involved or at least knowing about it.”

Following the hack, though, senior administration officials told CNN that the U.S. was actually seeking China’s help in combatting the North Korean hackers. In addition, President Barack Obama said there is “no indication” that another country was involved. For its part, China condemned the attacks and doubted the U.S.’s claims that North Korea was the perpetrator.

Graham called on President Obama to make North Korea “feel the pain that is due” — this includes putting the rogue nation back on the list of state sponsors of terrorism, increasing sanctions, and “infiltrating” the media to tell the North Korea people the truth about their regime. He also said Congress should spend time in the next session to work on passing cyberterrorism laws.
