Joe Crowley: Trump Ignored Puerto Rico ‘Leading People Quite Frankly to Die’

‘That’s what our president called success’

EXCERPT:

CROWLEY: "We now know that almost 3,000 people died in Puerto Rico. We know that the island went without proper water and energy and electricity and proper housing not for just hours or days or weeks, but we know for months and months. That happened to our fellow citizens in Puerto Rico. We know that the economy there is still struggling to recover. We know that redundancy is still lacking in Puerto Rico, and the preparedness for another storm is still a threat to the solvency of that -- that -- that island. That's what our president called success. I have another phrase for it, it's abject failure, failure to properly respond to the needs of the American people in Puerto Rico, their needs of $98 billion which was disgusted by the people and the governor of Puerto Rico was met with approximately 17 to 18 billion dollars from the federal government. We failed our fellow citizens and fellow Americans in Puerto Rico. President Trump ignored the entire island, leaving people quite frankly to die."
