Jonathan Moore, the attorney for Eric Garner’s family, said he and the family were “surprised” by the grand jury decision not to indict Daniel Pantaleo for the choking death of Eric Garner last July, and still hoped for at least Pantaleo’s dismissal from the NYPD.

“I suppose we shouldn’t be shocked about these things after the history of this, but we were still surprised,” Moore said. “He clearly was violating his own departmental regulations, he clearly was using excessive force. …That aggressive policing is what led to the actions.”
